Local Authors- How To Help Us Carry Your Books

local_author_typewriter_round_sticker-r023da115de4d4c838f4b3233585998bf_v9waf_8byvr_324Thank you for considering our bookstore for placement of your book.

Because we are approached several times a week (or even several a day) by local and self-published authors hoping we will sell their books, it has become necessary to develop this written explanation of our policies, to save your time and avoid misunderstanding.

Due to the nature of the retail business, we will not be able to accept local author self published books without an appointment. Please email info@aaronsbooks.com for more information and to set up an appointment.

We do encourage you to visit our shop and see what types of books we do carry before contacting us via email to carry your book.  Shopping locally for books and other items is vital to creating the community we cultivate with our wide variety of books, events, outreach, and charitable contributions. c7f0b1be5256289e9cdd8aa092667aec

Technology has made publishing easier, consequently, the number of books we are asked to consider carrying on our shelves continues to rise dramatically. No bookstore can carry every published title, whether from a major publisher or self-published local author, and many factors influence booksellers’ decisions. Of principle importance is whether the book will sell in this particular outlet, with the audience of our customers,  and is there space on the shelf to appropriately display the book at this time.

We consider thousands of books each year. We decline many books, including those by well-known and award-winning authors, if they are not a good match of our store. We would love for your book to be  successful for both of us.

If you would like to leave a review copy of your book you may do so with the attached book review form (see below to download), at any time. However, please understand that the person working in the shop at the time you come may not be the person who makes the buying decisions, nor have the time to discuss your book with you. While we make every effort to decide sooner, it will be a minimum of 2-3 weeks before we review your books and none will be reviewed during August, November, or December. If you do not hear from us within 6 weeks, you may assume we have decided not to carry your book. Because of the large number of review copies coming into the shop, we can not take responsibility for returning any book left for review. (consider it an investment in future sales)

Shop-localPlease note- we no longer accept books published through CeateSpace.  If you would like to learn more about self-publishing options that make your book more desirable for bookstores to carry and sell, we are happy to help you.
